Junior Information

Kentucky Boys State

American Legion Boys State is among the most respected and selective educational programs of government instruction for the U.S. high school students. This competition will be to select one high school male junior to participate as the Garrard County representative at the Kentucky Boys State held at Campbellsville University, Campbellsville, Kentucky from June 5th to June 10th.

Application guidelines:

- Letter of recommendation from Counselor, Teacher, Principal, Spiritual Leader, Coach, Veteran or Someone who can speak of your character, potential and desire to be part of the program.

- One page biography (include any relationships to veterans)

- Two page typed essay with the subject of Veterans

EKU Dual Credit 2016-2017

EKU Dual Credit tuition will remain at $65 per credit hour for the 16/17 academic year. To qualify for dual credit, students must be a junior or senior, have a 3.0 GPA, minumum ACT scores of 18 in English, 20 in reading and a 20 Composite ACT at the time of application. Scholarships are availiable.

EKU Dual Credit Scholarships for Fall 2016 - Spring 2017

Academically strong high school students may qualify for free dual credit tuition. All Dual Credit applications will be reviewed for scholarship qualification.

EKU Now! Dual Credit Scholarship– EKU Dual Credit students with a 3.0 high school GPA, plus minimum ACT/PLAN scores of 18 in English, 19 in Math, 20 in Reading and a 21 Composite are eligible to receive free dual credit tuition for one of the two allotted courses per semester.

Whitlock Scholar Candidate Dual Credit Scholarship– EKU Dual Credit students with a 3.5 unweighted high school GPA, plus minimum ACT scores of 18 in English, 19 in Math, 20 in Reading and a 23 Composite are eligible to receive free dual credit tuition for the two allotted courses per semester.  (PLAN scores are not considered for this scholarship.)

March 1st ACT

All Junior students will be taking the ACT on March 1st during school hours free of charge. This allows our students to meet their CCR benchmarks required for graduation before ever beginning their senior year. Below you will find an ACT information sheet given to all Junior students on January 29, 2016 that lists ACT benchmarks required by the state of Kentucky, as well as KEES money earned from ACT scores, and entrance requirements to our most popular colleges attended from GCHS. In addition, you will find the link the the ACT practice website purchased by our school and directions for logging in.

Washington Youth Tour

Inter-County Energy is offering juniors a one-day trip to Frankfort and a once in a lifetime opportunity to tour Washinton D.C. The Kentucky Rural Electric Washinton Youth Tour is an annual, weeklong, all-expenses paid trip to D.C. Applicants must be an actively enrolled junior in good standing and reside in Garrard County in the Inter-County Energy district. Applications are due March 4th. The trip will be June 10-17, 2016.
