2018-2019 calendar survey

The School Calendar Committee will prepare and recommend a school calendar for the upcoming school year to the Board of Education for adoption [required by KDE on or before May 15 of each year]. The committee shall consist of one district principal; one district office administrator other than the superintendent; one local Board member; two parents of students; one district elementary teacher; one district middle or high teacher; two district classified employees; and two community members. The committee will review calendar drafts, consider suggestions received on the survey, and make an effort to implement recommendations from school principals in developing a school calendar that reflects what is in the best interest of students. The committee will determine what is most appropriate in placing the four [4] professional development days, opening day, closing day, make-up days, four [4] holidays, and other days the district must be closed such as election days. The Board of Education has the final decision-making power in establishing the school calendar.

If you would like to make suggestions for the calendar committee to consider, please complete the following survey.

The committee members are to consider all input in developing the school calendar.

Infinite Campus Move

KDE and Infinite Campus have recently decided to move all of the district's Infinite Campus servers from Frankfort to the Infinite Campus data center.

This means two things for staff, students, and parents:

First, Infinite Campus will be unavailable from 12/23/16 until 12/30/16.

Second, once the move is complete the address for the site will change for both the application page as well as the parent portal.

This will mean that bookmarks and icons pointing to the current address will not work after the switch over. You will want to delete these to prevent confusion after we return from winter break.

We will update the district page during that week so the link on the webpage will work.

The new addresses will be:

https://kyede4.infinitecampus.org/campus/garrard.jsp  - PRODUCTION APPLICATION URL

https://kyede4.infinitecampus.org/campus/portal/garrard.jsp - PARENT PORTAL APPLICATION URL

This will not affect the mobile app.

GMS Academic Competition

academic

The Garrard Middle School Academic Team was in action for the 6th grade showcase today. They competed against Boyle County, Bate, Lebanon and Lincoln County Middle Schools.  They represented the school and county very well.  Here are the results:
Overall, Garrard placed 2nd with a really strong showing.

That set up one final match to determine the winner.  They were down 14-4 at the half, but fought hard in the second half. They came up just a little short: Boyle 20, Garrard 19.
Our students did very well in the written assessments. We had 3 students place in Social Studies: Sawyer Putnam was 1st, Ben Trimble was 3rd, and Caleb Slone was 4th.
