The process for electing a superintendent Screening Committee is underway. By statute, a committee is to be formed within 30 days of a superintendent vacancy occurring. This Selection Committee will consist of one board member, one principal, one parent, one classified staff member, and two teachers. The board member representative is appointed by the Board Chairman. The principal representative is selected by the principals. The parent representative is selected from parent nominations by the active PTO Presidents. The classified staff representative is voted upon by paper ballot from nominations. The two teacher representatives are also voted upon by paper ballot from nominations.
Nominations will be received until 5 pm on Friday, July 8th, 2016. Voting for the Selection Committee members will take place Wednesday, July 13th at the Board of Education from 10 am to 4 pm. This will be a paper ballot that does require a sign-in.
Classified staff members may stop in on this day to cast their vote for the classified staff representative. Teachers (Certified Staff) may stop by to cast their vote for the two teacher representatives.
Parents and district staff have all been notified by phone that nominations for the representatives will close at 5 pm on Friday, July 8th. Any parent or district staff member can nominate or self-nominate. You may nominate yourself or someone else by contacting Mindy Morrow at the Board of Education (Phone: 792-3018).
