Afternoon of Excitement
Earlier today, Wednesday, October 17, 2012, Garrard County High School experienced some excitement. While completing an experiment, a sprinkler head was set off. This lead to an evacuation of the building. Our students and teachers responded in the appropriate way and everyone moved to the designated locations. No student was in danger because the evacuation was due to the water from the sprinkler system. Students were allowed to return to rooms and lockers prior to dismissal to retrieve all their personal belongings. Dismissal happened at the normal time, but to avoid the water from the sprinkle system, busses left from the student parking lot instead of the normal bus loop.
Many thanks to the students and staff for responding appropriately and following the directions that were shared with them throughout the process.
Clean-up and restoration of the sprinkler system are currently underway and nearing completion.
We look forward to a less exciting day tomorrow, but are glad to know that all systems functioned efficiently and appropriately.
