Ms. Hutchison's Biography:
My name is Ms. Hutchsion and I live in a small apartment in Lancaster during the week, but during the weekends I live with my boyfriend Matt in Russell Springs, Kentucky.
I grew up in a small town (very much like Lancaster) in Northern Ohio!
I started college as a music education major at The University of Akron, but changed majors and schools before graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Management from the University of Findlay in 2005.
I've worked in a few different industries. At one point in my career I was a Manager for FedEx Ground and also a Medicare Analyst for Humana.
I decided to pursue a Master's Degree in Special Education because I enjoyed teaching corporate training classes at Humana and loved to serve as a substitute teacher.
While completing my Master's degree at Western Kentucky University, I worked at an alternative school for two years and had the privilege of working along side seasoned teachers and therapists with 15+ years of experience.
I graduated from WKU in December 2013 with a Master of Arts in Exceptional Edcuation LBD P-12 and this is my first year as the PASS teacher of Lancaster Elementary!
Throughout my education and experiences, I have developed a philosophy of teaching that includes, among other things, a “hands-on” learning community that supports and encourages students to reach their full potential. As a teacher, I believe it is my job to create an engaging learning environment in which each student feels like a participating, valuable, and unique member of the class. In addition to academics, I believe that the classroom should foster the development of social, emotional, and life skills to achieve a well-rounded student who succeeds both inside and outside the classroom.
Thanks for taking the time to get to know me!
