Ingredients:
3 1/2 c. all purpose flour
4 Tbs. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 package baker's yeast
1 c. warm water (90 degrees C)
1 Tbs. milk powder
1 Tbs. vegetable oil
2 oz red bean paste
Instructions:
1: Dissolve the yeast powder in 1/4 cup warm water for ten minuets.
2: Mix 1 1/2 cup of flour with sugar, salt, oil and milk
powder.
3: Stir 3/4 cup warm water into flour mix.
4: Add two cups flour and the yeast to mix and shape into a
dough.
5: Kneed the dough until smooth.
6: Divide dough into small balls about 1 inch in diameter.
7: Place a tsp. of read bean paste wrapped into the center
of each ball of dough.
8: Place the dough on a plate and let rise in a warm place
until twice the size.
9: Either steam or bake the buns for 15 min.
10: Makes about 20 to 25 buns.
Story:
This recipe came from my mom's side of the family, (my mom's name is Kuey Chu
Chen) which lives in Taiwan. When I was around the age of 4 and 5, I used to practically
live on Red Bean Buns. But I don't eat them as frequently as I did once. Serve as a
desert or snack.
