This is Mr. Kennedy here! I am entering my 19th year of teaching! 6 of those came from the classroom (3rd/4th grade). The other 13 have been in my love, Fitness!
My family and I moved to the area in 2015. We were excited to get out of the Chicago area and come to Kentucky for the beauty and just overall nicer people, as well as SEC Football, GO CATS!
Fitness is truly important for my family. My wife owns KTFitKids which is a CrossFit kids program at Horse Country CrossFit. In addition to my Elementary Education Degree, I also have my masters in Physical Education from West Virginia and hold training certificates in both CrossFit and CrossFit kids. Not only do I have the awesome opportunity to teach PE/Health at CDR, I also get to teach CrossFit Kids at Horse Country CrossFit in Danville.
At CDR we feel that fitness and high intensity exercise is a big key to getting students to be the best they can be! High intensity exercise elevates heart rate. This rise in heart allows for greater amounts of blood to be pumped through the body. Increased amount of blood and oxygen (which is carried by blood) to the brain spikes brain activity. In addition, during high intensity exercise, endorphins are also released in the brain. This release of endorphins is the key to managing one's stress and keeping them in a good mood to go about their day.
Please take a look at our the videos I have included about our CDR PE Program. You will see that we are not your ordinary Elementary PE Program and are one of 3 elementary schools in Kentucky that is also a CrossFit Affiliate!
