Students in Mrs. Lindsay's Spanish Class celebrated the coming of spring by breaking a pinata. In Spain, the Spanish adopted the pinata tradition now referring to the first Sunday of Lent as "The Dance of the Pinata." The participant, who is blindfolded, represents good opposing evil by having faith which was blind. They are spun around and try to break the pinata which is filled with treats. Traditionally, the Spanish used clay pots but with modern pinatas, paper mache and tissue paper are more popular.
