Garrard County High School is proud to announce Wyatt Fielder as one of the recipients of the 2024 Inter-County Energy Washington Youth Tour. This honor recognizes Wyatt's outstanding achievements and leadership qualities, earning him an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, DC. The Kentucky Rural Electric Washington Youth Tour is a highly coveted opportunity extended to select high school students served by electric cooperatives across the state. With twenty-two of Kentucky's twenty-four electric cooperatives participating in this program, it stands as a testament to the commitment of these organizations to nurture young leaders and provide enriching experiences. Each electric cooperative employs a unique selection process for identifying deserving candidates like Wyatt. Some co-ops opt for essay contests, while others prefer personal interviews or qualifying exams. Regardless of the method, the goal remains consistent: to identify students who demonstrate exceptional promise and a keen interest in civic engagement and leadership. For Wyatt, this achievement marks not only a recognition of his academic and extracurricular accomplishments but also an opportunity to immerse himself in the nation's capital. As a junior at Garrard County High School, Wyatt's dedication to his studies and involvement in the community have set him apart as a role model for his peers. The Washington Youth Tour promises to be an unforgettable experience for Wyatt and his fellow recipients. From visiting iconic landmarks to engaging with policymakers on Capitol Hill, the trip offers a unique blend of educational and cultural immersion. Wyatt's selection followed a rigorous process that included submitting an application, transcript, and teacher recommendation letter. Recently, Wyatt participated in the Kentucky Electric Cooperatives Day at the Capitol in Frankfort, further showcasing his leadership qualities. This summer, he looks forward to attending the Washington DC Youth Tour for a week. Beyond his academic achievements, Wyatt is deeply involved in extracurricular activities, including founding Wyatt’s Warriors Toy Chest NonProfit, serving as a Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Ambassador, and excelling in various sports teams such as football, bowling, archery, track and field. He also holds significant leadership roles in organizations like the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Future Farmers of America. Despite his busy schedule, Wyatt remains dedicated to community service, exemplified by his role as the Community Service Chair for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. With a passion for biomedical studies, Wyatt aspires to attend optometry school and make a difference in healthcare.
