PSAT 8/9 Testing – Access to Algebra Grant
Our 7th and 8th grade students will be taking the PSAT 8/9 (Reading and Math) on Wednesday, April 1st, 2026 as part of our participation in Advance Kentucky’s Access to Algebra Grant.
This is Year 1 of a 3-year grant program designed to prepare students for advanced mathematics courses in high school and beyond. Through this grant, Access to Algebra provides professional development for math teachers, funding for classroom supplies and student incentives, and ongoing on-site and virtual instructional support.
Why are students taking the PSAT 8/9?
7th Grade: Students take the assessment without preparation or review sessions to establish a baseline score.
8th Grade: Students take the PSAT 8/9 again and are offered review sessions prior to testing.
8th grade students who meet either:
A benchmark score of 430
OR
A growth goal of 70 points will earn a $50 incentive through the grant program.
📅 Attendance: Students need to make plans to be present on test day. Testing should be MOSTLY completed by afternoon.
💻 Testing Day Requirements
Students must bring:
CHARGED school-issued Chromebook & Chromebook charger
🧠 Preparation & Mindset Tips for Families
Help your student do their best by:
Ensuring they get a good night’s sleep the night before
Providing or encouraging a healthy breakfast
Helping them arrive at school on time and relaxed
Encouraging them to take their time and try their best
Reminding them this assessment helps us understand their growth—it’s not something to stress over
