Lancaster Elementary School is proud to welcome Dr. Lynn Petrey as its new Assistant Principal.
With nearly 23 years of experience in education, Dr. Petrey has dedicated his career to supporting student success, fostering positive school cultures, and creating meaningful opportunities for all learners. His extensive background in special education, school leadership, and statewide educational support brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Lancaster Elementary.
Dr. Petrey began his career as a special education teacher in both Lincoln County and Madison County school districts, where he worked closely with students with disabilities and their families. During this time, he played an active role in the community by developing and sustaining school to work programs that connected students with disabilities to employment opportunities and community partnerships.
He later served as a State Transition Specialist for the Kentucky Office of Special Education and Early Learning, supporting schools across the Commonwealth in preparing students for successful postsecondary education, employment, and independent living. Most recently, Dr. Petrey served as Principal of the Kentucky School for the Deaf, where he led initiatives focused on student achievement, workforce readiness, community engagement, and innovative learning opportunities.
Dr. Petrey earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees from Eastern Kentucky University before completing his doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy at Eastern Kentucky University.
As he begins his new role at Lancaster Elementary, Dr. Petrey looks forward to building strong relationships with students, staff, families, and the community. He is committed to ensuring every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.
