Garrard County Schools and Thomas More University recently celebrated the official ribbon cutting for the Thomas More University Bluegrass Education Center, commemorating a partnership designed to expand educational opportunities for students across central Kentucky.

The ceremony brought together school leaders, university representatives, local officials, and community members to celebrate the collaboration and its future impact on students and families in Garrard County. Speakers during the event included Dr. Kevin Reynolds, Senior Vice President of Thomas More University; Chris Elleman, Garrard County Judge Executive; Michael Gaffney, Mayor of Lancaster; David Meade, Speaker Pro Tempore of the Kentucky House of Representatives; Dr. Kevin Stull, Superintendent of Garrard County Schools; Dr. Kalem Grasham, Incoming Superintendent of Garrard County Schools; and Dr. Joseph Chillo, President of Thomas More University. The Garrard County Chamber of Commerce also participated in the official ribbon cutting ceremony.

The partnership between Garrard County Schools and Thomas More University focuses on three key areas: expanding dual credit opportunities for students, creating pathways for undergraduate, graduate, and certificate programs, and establishing shared classroom and meeting spaces within Garrard County Schools. Beginning in the 2026-27 school year, students will have increased access to college-level coursework through Thomas More’s Dual Credit Program, helping students earn college credit while still in high school.

District and university leaders shared their excitement for the partnership and its long-term impact on the community. The collaboration is expected to help reduce barriers to higher education, lower tuition costs for families, and provide students with direct pathways to future college and career opportunities.
