Join us for a night of fun at the 2026 Project Graduation Daddy/Daughter & Mother/Son Dance on March 20th from 6:30–8:30PM in the GCHS Cafeteria! Students in PreK–5th grade are invited to bring their dad, mom, grandparent, aunt, uncle, or any special parental figure for an evening of dancing and fun together. The cost is $12 per couple and $5 for each additional child. Concessions will be available starting at $2, along with glowsticks for $2 and pictures for $5. We hope to see lots of our students and their special guests on the dance floor!

Postsecondary Readiness: Increased from 99 to 111.9
Graduation Rate: Rose from 94.3% to 100% over three years
Science: Proficiency up 23% in one year

Garrard County High School junior Kai Weaver is passionate about paleontology! Over the summer, he took part in digs in Bozeman, Montana, and even discovered a new fossil in Pulaski County, KY.
Kai recently received the Junior Scholar Award from the American Association for Anatomy and presented his research—introducing a new species, Australosutura bordenensis—at the PALEOCONNECTED Conference at the University of Missouri.
Next up, he’ll present at the Kentucky Academy of Science Annual Meeting later this month, with hopes to advance to the national conference in Phoenix this February.

Alex Hounshell, a current senior at Garrard County High School! Alex joined the Kentucky Army National Guard on April 4, 2025, and completed Basic Training for 10 weeks at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, over the summer between his junior and senior year.
After graduation, Alex plans to attend Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) to study Exercise and Sport Science while participating in ROTC to become a military officer.
Following graduation, he will complete his 88M Motor Transport Operator training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.Missouri.
Alex is still deciding whether to continue his journey with the National Guard or go on Active Duty in the Air Force after college.
We’re so proud of Alex for his dedication, service, and future goals — it’s always a great day to be a Golden Lion! 🦁💛
