Mrs. Weaver's 9th Grade Integrated Science classes collaborated with Gear Up to design and build hot air balloons while studying the atmosphere. Students learned about air currents, parts of the atmosphere, density, and how to conduct atmospheric research!
Our Garrard Middle School and Garrard County High School TATU group (Teens Against Tobacco Use), visited all three elementary schools today to perform a puppet show discussing the harmful effects of nicotine.

Beta club members recently collected items for the Garrard County Animal Shelter. Members Sierra Johnson, Alexys Patrick, and Kylie Merrill spent this Saturday there volunteering with their new friend, Frank!🐶

GCHS Sophomore, Vivianna Weaver, with the Kentucky Student Voices Team, met with Lt. Governor Coleman and issued a press release of their newest study that distills the results from 10,725 Kentucky middle and high school students from 114 counties who took the Race, Ethnicity, and School Climate Student Survey in December. It is never too early to think about your future! Gear Up hosted a Family Night at GCHS last week and we appreciate everyone who stopped in! Students and parents learned about KEES Money, Dual Credit Scholarship, Work Ready Scholarship, ACT, and College Admissions.
March 7th-11th is National School Breakfast Week. To encourage breakfast at the high school this week, our Cafeteria Staff is giving away this FREE BIKE- to be entered in the drawing all students have to do is eat breakfast at school this week! Don't forget to check our GCS app to see what's for breakfast each day!
Reminder: Tomorrow, Tuesday, March 8th will be an NTI day for 9th, 10th and 12th grade high school students, due to the ACT. Those students will log on virtually for classes. Juniors will report to the school for testing.
GCHS would like to congratulate Coach Ken Hurt for being inducted to the 12th Region Hall of Fame!
Coach Hurt will be recognized tomorrow night (3/4/22) at Lincoln County High School during halftime of the first game (which begins at 6:30).
Mr. Ken Hurt coached Garrard County High School girls basketball from 1978-2003, compiling a record of 443-274. Under his leadership , GCHS Lady Lions won sixteen district championships and won the 1994 12th Region Championship; the only region basketball championship in Garrard County history.
We are very excited for Coach Ken Hurt, and are proud to call him a Golden Lion!

Today is a pretty day for a little spring cleaning! Garrard County High School JAG students earned community service hours by cleaning up the school grounds!
GCS would like to congratulate Ms. Kyrin Norris for winning the Good Citizen Award presented by the local chapter of the DAR. Kyrin's application and personal essay will be sent to the state level to compete with other Good Citizen Award winners throughout the state of Kentucky!
