
Garrard County High School would like to welcome our new Social Studies Teacher, Mr. Jackson Moss!
Mr. Moss is a very proud Garrard County High School graduate, class of 2016. Mr. Moss attended Northern Kentucky University and received his Bachelors in Secondary Social Studies Education, graduating in December, 2020.
Mr. Moss has spent the last year and a half as a Special Education Teacher and a Boys Assistant Soccer Coach here at GCHS.
Mr. Moss says in his free time he enjoys watching soccer, and hanging out with his girlfriend and their amazing one year old Golden Retriever, Saban!


Garrard County High School would like to welcome our new Assistant Principal, Mr. Mark Scenters!
Coach Scenters...a familiar name and a name we are very happy to welcome back to GCHS! Coach Scenters has currently been serving as the Estill County High School Assistant Principal. Before his administration role, Coach Scenters served twenty-one years teaching in the areas of Special Education, Social Studies, Behavioral Management and PASS (six of those years at GCHS). Along with a variety of teaching experience, Coach Scenters also has twenty-seven years of coaching experience.
When asked about returning to GCHS, Coach Scenters says, “The people that make up Garrard County Schools and specifically Garrard County High School, sincerely care about their students, parents and staff. GCHS is a school that truly embraces and is embraced by its community- and being able to return and serve those students, parents, staff and community is beyond exciting. I truly believe in the leadership of GCHS and the Garrard County School district in that it is a great place to learn and grow!”


Today is the day! The GCS Drama students have been preparing for this show for months and we cannot wait to watch their version of Peter Pan! Come support our students tonight and tomorrow! Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students. We can't wait to see you there!


Garrard County High School is excited to welcome Mrs. Kristi Potter as the newest member of the Golden Lion family! Mrs. Potter will be teaching English at GCHS in the fall.
Kristi Potter graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in Fall of 2019. She received a Bachelors of Arts in English Education with a certification in Theatre. She has worked for the past two years as a permanent substitute for Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. With much excitement, Kristi is ready to start as a high school English teacher at Garrard County High School next school year. In her off time, she enjoys reading, writing, lounging with her dogs and playing board games with her husband and friends.

Thank you to UK Healthcare for visiting our Health Science classes at the ATC last week! They brought the METIman simulator, so students could have the opportunity to listen to lung and heart sounds. Guests from UK Healthcare attended to discuss their specialties and experience working with UK Healthcare.

Last night we celebrated our GC Teachers of the Year at our annual Garrard County Central Record Teacher of the Year Banquet. Congratulations to our very own, Mrs. Ashley Vanhook, Garrard County High School's 2022 Teacher of the Year!

GCHS Girls and Boys Basketball teams are sponsoring a camp for younger players! You can register your player on the first day of camp, May 31st- beginning at 8:30AM. Cost is $35 for the four day camp, money can be paid on the first day of camp when registering (checks payable to GCHS).

Garrard County High School JAG students visited their 3rd Grade CDR Pen Pals today! These students have been writing letters back and forth each week for the past few months. Today, they got to meet each other in person and do an activity together!





Be sure to mark your calendars for Saturday, May 7th 11:00AM-2:00PM! GCHS Gear Up will be hosting the Young Entrepreneurs Market in the parking lot of the Grand Theater. There will be jewelry, weighted stuffed animals, baked goods, homemade dog treats, school greenhouse plants, thrifted vintage fashion, student art and more- all brought to you by our GC students!
Don't worry about stopping and getting lunch before-the Piggin Out Food Truck and Snowy Ice will be on site! Come support our students!


GCHS 9th and 10th GEAR UP students visited the Campbellsville University Harrodsburg campus last week! The students enjoyed a campus tour including stops at cosmetology, barbering, welding, HVAC, plumbing, chiropractic, and nursing programs. Never too early to start thinking about your future!




Congratulations to Kayden Ward for being recognized as an emerging leader displaying leadership qualities both inside the classroom and in our community. Kayden was 1 of 150 students selected nationwide. He will represent Garrard County High School and is 1 of 3 for the entire Commonwealth. #WeAreGC
