Mrs. Hoskins' AP Language and Composition class recently had a guest speaker visit and present on the Kentucky Innocence Project. Erin McQuerry (GCHS class of 2016), a law student at UK, spoke to the students about wrongful conviction and the work of the KIP to exonerate innocent individuals who have been wrongfully convicted. The students in AP Lang are currently reading the text Just Mercy and completing a nine-week research project related to the text. It is always great seeing alumni returning to GCHS to impact student learning! #gchsproud

"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much. "
We love when our GCS students and staff collaborate with our community partners! Check out this amazing project completed by our Garrard Middle School exceptional students, Mrs. Niki Montgomery and Mrs. Carrie Elleman! Mrs. Montgomery provided communication boards to Lancaster Police Department, Garrard County Sheriff's office, the local Fire Departments, etc. to assist in communicating with friends they may encounter in an emergency situation. Our GMS exceptional students also colored pictures for our local officers and firefighters!
Sheriff Willie Skeens, Interim Fire Chief Daniel Napier, CSEPP Director Jaydan Norris, and EM Director Wanda Shelton, visited GMS to speak with Mrs. Montgomery and Mrs. Elleman on how to appropriately utilize the boards.
Mrs. Montgomery says, "I am so excited about how positive the response has been and that we have been able to help spread awareness about how to assist neurodiverse students/adults, ELL learners, and anyone who may just have language difficulties."

People live, when people give. On Friday, some of our GCHS students and staff participated in a Blood Drive sponsored by the Garrard County High School FCCLA club. Thank you to all of those who donated! #motivationmonday #gchsproud
