Tech Center Tuesday is here! Today we are featuring our Phlebotomy Pathway! Did you know our students can graduate GCHS as a fully certified Phlebotomy Technician?! This pathway is taught by two of our Health Science instructors, Mrs. Doriska Austin and Mrs. Misti Moberly. The pathway prepares students to draw blood samples from patients using a variety of intrusive procedures. Students can obtain a certification from the National HealthCareer Association(NHA) by passing the required exam and successfully drawing blood from patients by completing 30 venipunctures and 10 fingersticks. Our high school seniors can directly enter the healthcare workforce after receiving this certification! #techcentertuesday #atcproud #gcsproud

Recently, the statewide scores were released for the Kentucky Summative Assessment (KSA). This year, the state has categorized progress status levels as very high (blue), high (green), medium (yellow), very low (orange) and low (red). Garrard County Schools were collectively on pace with the state averages, with all three levels having an overall rating of yellow. Our district has many content areas that are "at or above" the state averages, and we are approaching our pre-pandemic levels. This year will serve as a baseline for our data, our schools are excited about the growth we expect to see in the next few years.
